Hi Lovelies,
I hope you are all doing well. I am fantastic!
Today I want to discuss makeup and especially foundations a.k.a the bases of all makeup looks. There are so many foundations on the market; You can find high brands or low brands. Very affordable products as well as pricey one and it's easy to get confused and to not know what to pick? There are a few importants things you need to note before you purchase your foundation. Let's review it together.
First things first, what's your skin type? Each foundation is suitable for a certain type of skin. Some will have hydration, which is perfect for normal or dry skin. Others will be oil free and suitable for oily or combination skin. It is important that you know your skin and your needs before to make a purchase. Even though the beauty consultant will advise you, do not go in store without a clue.
Secondly, the texture. You can find cream foundations, liquid foundations, powders foundations. Depending on the tool you want to use ( a brush, a sponge, your fingers) you will make a choice. Also if you feel like carrying it in your purse you want to make sure you get the right one.
Thirdly, the coverage. Do you need to wear the product on a daily basis? Do you apply makeup for special occasions? What's the purpose of your purchase? Each foundation has a special coverage ; some will be light coverage, medium or full coverage. When you pick a product try it out on your face to see how it covers it. You want to make sure it's suitable for you.
Then the finish. Yes, you read me well. Foundations have several types of finish. Some will have a matte finish, others a natural, slightyl shimmering one. You have to check the caracteristics of the product, apply it on and see how it sets to you skin. This will help you find the right one according to the look you want to have.
Last but not least, you have to pick the right color. And it's kind of a big deal. You need to know your skin undertone. Your skin can have neutral, yellow, red undertone. Your foundation needs to match your undertone perfectly. If your skin need correction due to hyperpigmentation, you want to make sure the foundation makes your skin even and the most natural looking ever.
Pro tip : when trying out a product, pick three shades and apply it on your jaw line. Let it sit for 5 minutes and check to see which color matches your face the best.
I hope all these tips will help you find the right product.
Take care,
Marie-Dominique
