This year’s Ivory Coast Independence celebration in Washington DC showcased a blend of culture, elegance, tradition, and contemporary style, highlighting the diaspora's influence. At the center was Mariolis, modeling for Sali Ouattara, the creative force behind Lili Creation.
For Mariolis, this wasn’t just another modeling moment. It was a celebration of identity. A bridge between her Dominican roots and the Ivorian spirit she’s embraced through our marriage, our family, and our journey together. She wore Lili Creation’s designs with grace, confidence, and that subtle fire that only she can pull off. The outfits were rich with color, culture, and craftsmanship — everything Sali is known for. Lili Creation continues to bring African fashion to the world with authenticity and artistry, and having Mariolis represent that vision on such an important night was an honor.
The event itself was powerful. The Ivorian community in the DMV showed out in full strength — music, laughter, traditional fabrics, history, and pride filling the room. This is the kind of gathering where you don’t just attend… you feel. You remember where you come from. You see where you’re going.
One of the highlights of the evening was having the opportunity to speak directly with the Ambassador. Conversations like this remind you that culture isn’t only preserved on the stage , it’s also carried forward through relationships, dialogue, and mutual respect. It was meaningful to exchange words with someone who represents the nation on a global stage, especially on a night honoring independence, resilience, and unity.
For us, participating in this event wasn’t just about modeling. It was about presence. Community. Representation. It was about showing that our family with all its multicultural roots ,stands proudly with Ivory Coast, its heritage, and its future.
And for Mariolis, modeling for Lili Creation under the lights of Washington DC was more than an experience. It was a moment of belonging. A moment of beauty. And a moment we’ll carry with us for years to come.

Merci Sali
